1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they employ smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. They also come with carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet They are also adept in removing dog hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and works while you're at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. robot vacuum cleaners reviews 's the best robotic hoover for carpets, however it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and ensure more efficient cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also perfect for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.
In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could complete the task of cleaning a whole home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms that had various flooring types, such as some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With an elegant circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' compact models this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive looking models in our tests. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with a simple mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a concern in the mornings prior to work or at night when you are trying to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and a little more cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on how dirty the areas are.
If you own a larger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stairway mode is useful if you own a large furniture. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very beneficial.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It's a pro at cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or create an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also provides access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums that we've test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
